2023 was the first year of my life that I used a digital calendar in Google Sheets and it changed my life. I’m a paper gal through and through. I prefer to jot things down on stickies, journal in a notebook, add things to my giant paper calendar, print things off and pin them somewhere, read a paper book…paper is where it’s at for me. But that’s not always practical and I’m also a practical gal through and through.
I’m also always looking for things to make my life more organized (shocking to those who know me I’m sure 🤪) and for calendars, I like to see things laid out in one place so it’s clear and easy to see what we have going on. Last year I downloaded a calendar into sheets and needless to say, it has been a game changer. One place to see everything going on for the entire year. It’s color-coded so I can easily see the “type” of event it is…i.e. green for day plans, orange for out-of-town guests, blue for vacation, etc. I also have the weekends shaded so it’s easy to spot how the weeks are laid out. I do use my Google calendar extensively and love it but this is a more visual year-at-a-glance view that for me, can’t be beat.
If you’d like to try it, I recommend you do this on your computer. It will be easiest there. Click here, the spreadsheet should open in a new browser. Hit the arrow at the bottom left next to ‘2024 AAG’ and choose “Copy to” ‣ “New Spreadsheet”. This will transfer it to a spreadsheet where you can start manipulating it the way you like. (The copy I’m sharing is “view only” so you can’t do anything to that copy. You have to upload it into a new sheet to work with it.) Once you do, you can change the colors, the fonts and sizes, whatever you need to make it look the way you want. I recommend hitting the top left cell to highlight the whole spreadsheet and then choose Format, Wrapping, Wrap to make sure the entire spreadsheet will show all of your text automatically (if you have questions on this just DM me). Then start adding all the things you’re planning for 2024!
If you use Excel, copy and paste the entire spreadsheet by clicking the numberless box in the top left corner to highlight the whole sheet and then paste it into Excel. There will be a little more manipulating to do but if you’re using Excel then I’m sure you know what you’re doing ☺️.
I have the Sheets app on my phone so it’s easy to pull up the calendar when I need it on the go but I mostly use this on my computer at home.
I hope this helps you stay organized for 2024! If you have any questions, DM me on Instagram, and I will help you!!
