Nice kitchen knives do not have to be expensive. I repeat. Nice kitchen knives do not have to be expensive.
Unless you want them to be. π
We were gifted a set of Wusthof knives years ago and I love them but honestly, they didn’t stay sharp for very long. No matter how well I cared for or sharpened them before each use. I figured that must be how knives are. You just have to pay to get them professionally sharpened because I had multiple ways of sharpening and that didn’t do the trick.
But then another friend told me about Victorinox and I bought the 4″ paring knife in 2020 and the 8″ chef’s knife in January of 2022; both are still sharp!!! And I cook regularly. It blows my mind that “cheaper” knives like these have held up so well. Sure, they aren’t as quality as Wusthof or Henckels, but they are comfortable to hold, lightweight, stay sharp, and are super affordable. Checks all the boxes for me.
This classic 3 piece chef’s set would make such a nice gift. For the new or seasoned cook.

So true! I purchased a set of Wusthof knives and have had them professionaly sharpened many times. I’m so over them but have delayed in doing the research to find a replacement brand. Looking forward to try this set!
