If I could hang every single piece of clothing in my closet I would. For the simple reason that I don’t like to iron and I’m not a fan of wrinkly clothing. Hanging everything makes life so much easier. You can see all of your things in one place, you can organize them by color (if you want), and you don’t have to deal with the crumple of folded clothing. Some people don’t mind wrinkles. I’m not one of them. Not for my clothes anyway. Which is why this $1 spray bottle may well be the hardest-working thing in my closet. I use it almost every day and it is so much faster than ironing or steaming. I don’t think I need to tell you how to de-wrinkle your clothes in this way BUT in case you’ve never done it, here’s how:
- STEP 1: Spray your item of clothing down with water primarily only where the wrinkles are. You don’t have to dowse it. Just a light spritz will do. (unless it’s SUPER wrinkly, then a good dowsing is in order)
- STEP 2: Give it a nice, vigorous shake.
- STEP 3: Hang or lay the item to dry. If you’re in a hurry, throw it in the dryer for a few minutes.
I often employ this fancy technique right before I actually get dressed and it’s usually fine and nearly dry by the time I put the item on. If it’s too wet, I throw it in the dryer real quick. Easy peasy. Quick, affordable, and requires absolutely no skill. (if you can’t tell I’m being cheeky, I’m being cheeky π)
But seriously, I don’t even travel without a spray bottle (just make sure it’s empty). It is a lifesaver on trips because most items come out of a suitcase looking like a 90-year-old who has never moisturized (being cheeky again π).
For the items that are wrinkly beyond the workings of spray bottle magic, I trust a good ole steamer to do the trick.
Happy de-wrinkling!
